Here is my presentation slides from todays session.
"The Power of MySQL"
I think it was pretty informative presentation about the basics of MySQL. I also feel that MySQL is a widely used platform in development but not in production. This is something that I expected from ColdFusion community when I think about MS SQL Server usage. But I think this will change by the time especially because of the power of the MySQL server and the open source community projects which mostly prefer MySQL as main database platform.
Luckily we have a native support in ColdFusion 8 and this is something that would be a good reason completing ease of MySQL usage especially when I remember the dilemma on embedded drivers in ColdFusion and old JDBC driver installation requirements etc.
I am also excited about the new MySQL storage engine Falcon. I feel that this will be something important in the new future for the database world preferences.

May 20, 2008 at 6:48 AM Afaik Vodafone UK online store uses MSSQL 2005 for their transactional data base nad reporting.
May 20, 2008 at 7:00 AM Of course that regards to the part of your presentation where you say Vodafone uses MySQL. I'm not saying they don't use it and I know Vodafone is huge company, they're in number of places. I'm just trying to say they are also using different data base systems for more sophisticated work.
BTW: I think you should choose different captcha. It is hard to read these characters.
May 20, 2008 at 8:35 AM Hey Oguz, I wish I could have caught this preso. Could you join the Webmaniacs group at SlideSix.com and post this preso to it? I think I noticed before you had a preso error out because you were trying to upload a PPTX. If you save as PPT and upload it it will work for you. I need to put some error catching in for that until I can eventually add PPTX support.

May 20, 2008 at 9:23 AM @Radek, I know Vodefone uses MySQL in some projects but think I should remove the big companies such as Vodafone, Google from the list because they use all kind of tecnologies and I should mostly focus on a specific solutions such as Flickr or Facebook.
@Todd, I have already tried both pptx and ppt. I also requested to be a member for cf.Objective and WebManiacs. Please check the system for my presentations.
May 20, 2008 at 10:31 AM Whatever the presentation was about MySQL, PostgreSQL has even more capabilities. Not to start a flame war, but if you value your data, you should take a look at PostgreSQL.
