I had a dedicated server in Germany for my personal projects and some small client websites. Service was very good with a reasonable price. But after transferring client sites into their own host accounts I have decided to go with a VPS account with more less price and with a US based service.
After searching and testing different solutions, I have decided a VPS account at VPSLand.com. The only problem was having a new account in 38 hours later. :)
I have now VPS Ultimate on a Windows 2003 with 2 GB Ram. Windows OS decision was a bit hard one but just because of having some projects on MS SQL Server and I had to decide Windows as OS selection.
I have installed a clean ColdFusion 8.0.1 with my own license. And here are complete list of software that I am using on the server.
- Virtuozzo based VPS
- Windows 2003 Server Enterprise
- ColdFusion 8.0.1
- MS SQL Server 2005 Express
- MySQL 5.x
- FileZilla FTP Server
- MailEnable E-mail Server Standard
- Horde Webmail
- Php 5.x
- .Net 2.x
All installed manually and I manage services mainly via RDP. I do not use any DNS services and I host all my domains in Godaddy and point to the servers that I use.
I am happy so far with all current configuration. I am also planning to install BlazeDS in near future. :)
UPDATE: Today my VPS account was down for 13 hours!!! :(
